Developing basic skills in strategy development and implementation

Strategy development plays an important role in organisations as it defines the direction, goals and measures that an organisation wants to pursue in order to be successful. It involves analysing the internal and external situation, formulating a strategic vision and selecting suitable strategies to achieve it. Strategy development is a dynamic and continuous process that requires adjustments and improvements in order to react to changes in the environment, the market, customers and competitors and to make an organisational system fit for the future. It requires the involvement and commitment of all relevant stakeholders, especially managers, who must implement and communicate the strategy.

Strategy development can be carried out in different ways and with different models, depending on the sector, but also the purpose, scope, timeframe and complexity of the strategy. There is no universal model that is suitable for all situations and organisations. It is therefore important to select or adapt the appropriate model for the strategy development in question.

In the “Develop & Implement Strategy” training course, we look at the basic approach to strategy development using the strategy loop and various methods and tools selected on a needs-oriented basis to support strategy development and implementation, as well as practising strategy work. It is aimed in particular at prospective managers and/or teams who want to develop basic skills in strategy development and implementation.

Participants learn a structured approach to strategy development, implementation and reflection.

Content of the training on the topic of developing and implementing strategy

  • Familiarisation with the structure and different approaches to strategy development and implementation
  • Developing a plan for strategy implementation and ongoing communication using a case study
  • Familiarisation with selected analysis instruments and tools, e.g. stakeholder analysis, stakeholder management and communication planning, strategic priorities, controlling, working with measurable criteria, error analysis
