Evening event „Digitisation in Africa – a giant awakes“
“A giant awakes“ – this was the slogan under which the IHK Bonn/ Rhein-Sieg invited on September 21st2017 to the Digital Hub in Bonn, to discuss about future opportuinites for the digitisation in Africa. Representatives of the AHK from sub-Saharan Africa as well as stakeholders of the ‘Deutsche Wirtschaft’ and the ‘Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit’ (GIZ) reported about current developments, successes challenges in the different countries.
About 100 participants took this opportunity to talk to experts, for mutual exchange and further networking.
The talks of the experts pointed out how goal-oriented the countries in sub-Saharan Africa explored the path to digitisation and also the dynamics in digital startups in Kenia, but also in Nigeria.
Apart from the structural difficulties in those countries, there is a great openness and creativity as well as entrepreneurial spirit to use the opportunities of digitisation which should not be underestimated.
The evening event was facilitated and presented by Claus-Bernhard Pakleppa and Dorothee Overberg by p4d.
It was organised by IHK Bonn/ Rhein-Sieg, IHK Mittlerer Niederrhein, IHK Koblenz and the Digital Hub Bonn in cooperation with p4d and the Global Business Network Programme of GIZ.
