Hamburg Süd

As one of the ten largest container shipping brands with around 5,000 employees worldwide and as part of Maersk Line, Hamburg Süd is one of the market leaders in the container transport sector. Hamburg Süd ITS unites all IT needs in a globally operating division of the company. In 2018 and 2019, p4d supported Hamburg Süd ITS in further developing the organizational culture of the division towards more agile structures and self-organization. After understanding the current situation, a future vision for Hamburg Süd ITS was developed, concrete implementation steps for the new organization were agreed upon, and a common operating system, i.e. a set of rules for the organization, was then developed and implemented on this basis.

SMS Meer/ SMS group

Since 2020, p4d has been accompanying the internationally active plant manufacturer SMS group through a transformation process and, together with a wide range of stakeholders in the company, has been shaping change management in the course of the SAP S4/Hana implementation.

For their strategy and change processes, p4d also supported SMS Meer / SMS group through process consulting, process facilitation, workshop moderation and leadership coaching. Our work focused on anchoring topics, content and processes in the organizational culture: within and between teams, at departmental and divisional levels, nationally and internationally.

The ´Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit´ (GIZ) needed an external sparring partner to develop innovative concepts for internal organizational development and event design, who accompanied the planning and implementation of the measures with a fresh view from the outside: We supported, for example, the process design of a multi-national leadership training, accompanied a culture change project for internal organizational development or moderated individual internal strategy & planning workshops.

Berghof Foundation

In 2018 and 2019, p4d accompanied the Berghof Foundation through an extensive organizational development process against the backdrop of a changing and rapidly growing organization. The starting point for this comprehensive change process was an organizational culture analysis. On the basis of this, p4d accompanied Berghof in a joint understanding process, which was then followed by the co-creative development of four identified levels: the organizational structure, the strategy, the structures, and processes as well as the “operating system” of the organization and its cooperation. The results of the OE process were, in addition to a new organizational structure and a new strategy, a policy document on vision – mission – values, a new organizational structure including the definition of roles, and the Code of Conduct of the organization.



For the internationally active ball bearing manufacturer, top-class teamwork is one of the essential criteria for success. For SKF, p4d moderated various workshops with preceding culture analyses for teams, leadership teams – national and international – to create Common Ground. The workshops enabled the participants to significantly improve their cooperation.



Applying the right levers for sustainable change by means of just a few interventions: STROTHMANN, a specialist in handling and transport solutions, is a successful supplier in the sector of industrial automation and intralogistics. p4d supported STROTHMANN with the further development and implementation of their corporate vision. A set of qualitative interviews was used as the starting point of the intervention. STROTHMANN executives deliberated on the actual status of corporate culture as seen from their functions’ viewpoints, and they developed a blueprint of forward-looking ideas to increase sustainably shared responsibility. The results of the interviews were fed back into the company as part of a management workshop facilitated by p4d, in which they were discussed by the participants. This became the basis of the project ‘Operating System 2.0’ which was developed to implement the vision throughout the company. Subsequently, p4d gave advice to the STROTHMANN management team on selective points, along the way, in the role of a sparring partner and provider of stimuli for further development and securing results.
